what a lovely and light-leaning reflection, thank you crystal. and how i adore your anchoring metaphor to a "snowball to the third eye!" i so appreciate you taking the time to listen, and will humbly join you in witnessing the beauty brought by each season. ready or not, here they come! 🤗
This piece reminded me that seasons are not merely cycles of nature, but nuances of the earth’s emotions. Just as joy, sorrow, laughter, and tears coexist within us, seasons arrive and linger without asking permission from the calendar. To me, they are brushstrokes of color on the canvas of the painting we call life.
The beautiful music accompanying this piece deepens that feeling even further, transforming winter into a metaphor for life’s challenges. It is a time of facing hardship, yet through courage emerging victorious, able to savor the beauty winter offers, along with the strength and resilience that life itself teaches us to cultivate.
what a gorgeous, tender tribute to both the seasons shifting around and within us. the permission of a paradox can feel so fearful until it finally yields as freedom. your artful anchor to metaphors as a mirror here is so inspiring. it leaves me wondering what else we can (and will) learn by staying open to the lesson. my deepest gratitude for taking the time to listen and penning this stunning soul-affirming reflection.
It is through your creativity that I was invited to travel into the wonders bestowed upon us by the art of words and music. I offer my thanks with heartfelt gratitude and deep respect 🙏😊
what a heartwarming and holy reflection, thank you for lending a listen. i'm humbled the music was able to move you between time and space - when the moment allows, please provide directions to said palace!
i truly appreciate you taking the time to listen. your kind words gently settled in my heart, for i'm honored the piece provided a bit of surprise submerged in solace.
I can't remember the last time I saw snow fall. It's been decades! But I remember that feeling of the first fall, spying the snowflake flurries out the window and being filled with happy anticipation.
Your piece captures that feeling and also the one of comfort in being tucked inside, cozy by a fireplace, knowing the white blanket of silence was building outside.
You captured the feeling of the natural world, quietly, harmoniously doing its seasonal thing perfectly!
i'm so touched by this tender reflection, jody. i felt like you walked me back to a world you once knew, softly sharing with me a memory waving from the shadows. i'm honored the piece was able to transform time and space to savor some of winter's sparkle. your kindness is always appreciated my friend, wishing you happy holidays and a pocket of peace wherever you need it most.
Not only are you a talented musician but you can turn a phrase so poetically! "A memory waving from the shadows", "savor some of winter's sparkle"... ! Just beautiful!
Holiday love and peace to you too clever friend! 💖❄️
Beautiful expressions of words and melody to ease into this winter morning. Your sage words: " we must widen the lens that each season solely symbolizes one holiness of this human experience," is a lovely reminder in this season in which we call for Light, even in our abundance of light but deficit of sight. Thank you, Skott!
what a gift it is to hear of how the notes gently nudged you into morning. i truly appreciate your kind and supportive words my friend, they mean a lot. how enchanting i found this verse of yours: "this season in which we call for Light, even in our abundance of light but deficit of sight." in times of deep difficulty, i wonder if the question becomes less about "if" there is light and more about where do we look for it.
Scott, how enchanting. This is the first piece I have heard of your music. You are a storyteller through it.
I lived in MN for 20 yrs in my middle years. This took me back to the first snowfalls. When seen in the porch light at night, the first soft snow, was like this music's reverie. The crystal flakes dancing to the ground. But also the acceptance of the weather you live in beyond the beauty.
If you are unfamiliar with it, I would recommend Judy Collins The Fallow Way. You might enjoy it.
thank you kindly, celia. i so appreciate you lending a listen. ah yes MN, so you are certainly no stranger to winter! indeed, you have a resounding relationship to rely on for many of those magical memories. and how i love the image you painted of the porch's performance - what a gift to share that light-leaning wonder once again through these wires and webs. i love judy's sweet voice but am not familiar with the song, so it looks like i have some lovely music to move through as evening descends. as always my friend, wishing you wellness and peace however it looks in the moment.
Your music makes me stop and listen. I often play music in the background while I do other things, but when I play yours it usually draws me to stop and just listen. I'm not sure why. Maybe it is the simplicity, the clarity, or the story. Whatever it is, it captures my attention and that is a high compliment. Thank you for the beauty and wisdom you contribute to life.
what a gracious gift to hear such unfiltered honesty from the heart. music is one of those mysterious codes we've yet to crack where it feels like we don't even know why we respond a certain way - only that we do indeed feel something. how genuinely honored i am to play this part in your story.
There is an abundance of loveliness here, both in your words and music. Special thanks for Mary’s thoughts as well. It all flows together to create a perfect peace✨
thank you my friend. your sincere words always manage to find their mark (and i thought you might smile at some of mary's medicine!). i love your phrasing "a perfect peace" - it genuinely coaxed the first smile out of me today. i appreciate the light you keep on shining in this worthwhile world.
how you humble me, aynsley! i so appreciate your kind words. when flow somehow finds us, it can feel like such a gift - as if a fleeting force is moving less to us and more through us. i remember reading some of your own work about words finding you, gently whispering and insisting to be witnessed. like most gifts in this lifetime, how much better they become when shared. i'm so pleased this piece found such a lovely place to land.
This arrived at exactly the right moment. I wouldn’t call myself a “winter person,” yet I’m learning to appreciate what this season quietly offers—stillness, inward listening, rest, and a different kind of growth. Your words helped me soften into that truth rather than resist it.
Listening to this piece this morning felt like being gently guided into the day with warmth instead of bracing against the cold. The composition carries the same spaciousness and reverence as your writing—holding dormancy not as absence, but as preparation.
Nature really is a patient teacher, and winter has lessons I’m only now beginning to hear. Thank you for creating something that made those lessons feel welcoming rather than harsh.
what a touching and tender reflection. your pearled phrasing, "holding dormancy not as absence, but as preparation" made me pause to hold space for false endings embedded in my own narrative. i appreciate your authenticity in naming and claiming your experience, particularly permitting yourself to wonder, "what if...?" to questions answered long ago. i'm truly honored to have provided any gentle start to the day, and hope you pocketed a bit of peace for later. well now my friend, you're officially invited to climb aboard the winter welcome wagon (BYOS - bring your own snowball!). ☃️
i love the poetry of your words and musical compositions. reading your piece while listening to the piano was a true treat. and now, having read through so many of the comments and your responses, i feel as though i’ve been transported back to elizabethan england. you belong with shakespeare.
what an enchanting and thoughtful response, venus. i’m so touched that you not only paused to meet the music, but bore witness to these lovely conversations rooted in connection. your wonder is always welcome here, my new friend.
That piece is incredible. I listened to it as I choose to stay rested in bed thismorning 7.55am Monday (New Zealand is a day ahead to the rest of the world) .. Ib have this beautiful view to accompany your stunning composition.
how lovely and kind, thank you my friend. honored to have provided a little soundtrack to start the day. what a gift to yourself upon waking to rest in bed rather than race out of it!
what a gracious response, thank you soleil. i'm humbled that the piece could provide a little peace today. i so appreciate you leaning into listen to what it had to say.
Skott, are you Walt Whitman, in disguise? ❤️ You have this beautiful way of expressing that is like him. But wait, I think I hear him laying down his pen, listening to your words in wonder. And your music. :)
oh how you humble me, my friend! i'm truly touched the music was able to meet you in the moment today. i so appreciate you lending a listen. and to honor the "good gray poet", i now offer from his most famous work: "i celebrate myself, and sing myself, and what i assume you shall assume, for every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.”
"We must never mistake slumber for surrender"
Like a snowball to the third eye this quote shot out and hit my awareness in the best way.
I truly enjoyed this piece both musically and the way you are able to capture a season's entrance that is usually met with unfavorable reactions.
Thank you for the re-frame and the invitation to see the beauty in all the season's arrivals. 😊

A slow beginning and then the gentle pace up felt like a fairy tale in a winter palace... before descending back to reality. It was nice 👍🏽
what a heartwarming and holy reflection, thank you for lending a listen. i'm humbled the music was able to move you between time and space - when the moment allows, please provide directions to said palace!
Your music was calming and felt really good. I listened to it a few times. Was a bit worried at that time. So thanks for the composition.
This is lovely. I could feel the stillness, then the surprise of morning. A beautiful composition and rendition. Thank you for sharing it.
i truly appreciate you taking the time to listen. your kind words gently settled in my heart, for i'm honored the piece provided a bit of surprise submerged in solace.

Drop a note of what you think of Fallow Way. I always thought a painting of it would be nice too.
